  • Heute: Reinhard Klein, Deutschland Dieser Metro wurde aus einem Serien-Clubman 6R4 (Chassis 92) mit 240PS aufgebaut und hat heute statt der möglichen 400 zuverlässige 330PS. Reinhard Klein fährt diesen Metro in Werks-Computervisionfarben schon seit 1992 bei Demonstrationsfahrten. Gestern: Rallye-WM 1986 Die ersten Arbeiten am Metro begannen bereits 1981 und wäre er nach Plan drei Jahre später fertig gewesen, so hätte er zumindest mit den langen Quattros und dem Lancia 037 um den WM Titel von 1984 streiten können. Austin Rover war aber zu langsam und der Bau der 200 zur Homologation nötigen Autos dauerte noch bis Ende 1985. Im Jahre 1986 fehlte dem 3-Liter Saugmotor dann der Turbolader und damit 100 PS zur Konkurrenz und das Auto war kurz und breit und damit obendrein nervös zu fahren. Deshalb war sein bestes Ergebnis in der Weltmeisterschaft ein dritter Platz bei der RAC Rallye 1985. Today: Reinhard Klein, Germany This 6R4 was built from the standard Clubman chassis number 92. Its engine today instead of the 240 bhp is tuned up to a healthy 330bhp, avoiding all the trouble the 400bhp units give. Reinhard Klein drives this car on demonstration events since 1992. Yesterday: Rally World Championship 1986 Work began on the MG 6R4 in 1981 as collaboration between Williams GP Engineering and Austin Rover. If the car had been ready on schedule in 1983, it would have been able to match the Quattros and the Lancia 037 to fight for the World Championship. But it took until late in 1985 to build the 200 necessary cars. By then, the lack of a turbocharger and consequently 100 bhp was its biggest problem. The car was also through its short wheelbase and wide track quite difficult to drive. The best result of a works car in Computervison colours in WRC was 3rd overall on the RAC Rally with Tony Pond driving it.
