From Tuncurry we set off for Nabiac after which we turned off the highway toward Gloucester turning off fairly soon then heading to Dyers Crossing, just south of Krambach, then continuing south to Bunyah. There is not much at Bunyah apart from the Community Hall and Tennis Court and surrounding beef grazing farm properties. From Bunyah we headed further south across Manning Hill to Markwell and on to Bulahdelah for lunch in the local pub, the "Plough Inn". The biggest steaks in the universe BTW. After a bit of a drive around Bulahdelah we headed north on the freeway to the Wootton Way turnoff and followed the old highway to Wootton where we turned onto Wattley Hill Road which eventually led us to the Lakes way, Bungwahl and back into Forster and then across to Tuncurry. A great days drive with some interesting country that's a bit out in the sticks west of Coolongolook and not much visited.

  • I went to a New Years Eve Dance here many years ago. The locals turned out in big numbers but the only ones inside were the women and children, with some dancing to the country singer on the stage. Most of the local blokes were outside sitting on the tailgates of their utes with their mates, having a beer from their large eskies. It was a hot balmy night so everyone was relaxing, chilling out and just enjoying catching up with other locals.
