  • Just over a month after the first coal wagon transfer from Port Augusta, SSR picked up the remaining wagons they had purchased from the Leigh Creek Coal train. The same locomotive consist as the first time was used, but with B class locomotive B61 added. B61 a long term member of the SSR fleet, was repainted into a promotional livery for the Streamliners 2016 event held over the October Long Weekend. B61 rarely seems use on commercial trains due to much newer motive power being available, but does get a run from time to time. SSR Driver Bernie Baker, and long time Streamliner locomotive fan, was fortunate enough to have B61 named after him by the company and also given the special treatment to appear in a promotional livery for the event he organised. B61 also was placed on the front of the second transfer as a television show was planned to be filmed of the transfer. Either way, getting 5 streamliner locomotives on a main line train is something that is quite rare, and fortunately I had the chance to capture this. Last time the cloudy weather worked well, but it was good to have clear sunny skies for this trip this morning. The train left Port Augusta (SA) on Friday as 5478S to Broken Hill then formed 8778 on Saturday to Lithgow. After a few overnight delays, the train ran at a much better time for photos than was originally planned. B61 is seen here at Wimbledone leading S317 GM27 GM10 and S302 with the balance of the NHKF wagons, 10 NHJF and about 35 NHVF wagons. Here is a link to the photo I captured here on October 30th, without B61 leading www.flickr.com/photos/93187349@N07/30761364162/in/datetaken/ 2016-12-04 SSR B61-S317-GM27-GM10-S302 Wimbledon 8778
