• In 1888 the construction of a storehouse with a cellar is put out to tender for construction. It is the largest contiguous storehouse at the freight yard in Buchs SG with a length of 170 m and a width of 37 m. Underneath there drowses a huge tank farm for beverages, which has survived to this day, but has not been used for a few years. The original purpose was as a wine cellar. Parts from all eras of this 130-year-old cellar have survived but fallen into oblivion. It is also talked about since a long time to demolish all. The upper part is still used as a branch of a logistics company. The only worker there retires in three years, hoping it will last that long. Now let's take a look in this historical underground while it's still there. Switzerland, Oct 25, 2019.

  • The layout consists of a central corridor and lateral rooms, which have been partially lowered to obtain more room height. At one end there is a newer elevator, at the other end an older hoist and in the middle an ancient one. From the upper floor there are two stairs downwards. One of them from an annex building is not accessible. Light is only partially available. Switzerland, Oct 25, 2019. (5/46)

  • Shortly after the construction of this cellar, wine barrels made of cement were invented in 1892. Before, there were normal wooden barrels in use, of which I have still found a few. The cement barrels exist in two different types. Those in this section could be from the second generation. Switzerland, Oct 25, 2019. (6/46)
