Das Reiterhaus in Neusalza-Spremberg

- Das sogenannte Reiterhaus am östlichen Ausgang des an der Spree gelegenen Dorfes Spremberg gilt als eines der ältesten Umgebindehäuser der Oberlausitz. Dies betrifft den parallel zur Straße stehenden größeren Gebäudeteil, der bereits vor 1660 errichtet worden war, während der zur Straße zeigende Bauteil erst kurz vor 1800 als Ausgedingehaus angefügt wurde. Namensgebend für das Bauwerk ist eine am Giebel des Anbaus befestigte Reiterfigur. Sie wurde 1874 von der Haustochter als Siegespreis von einem "Ritterstechen", also einem Kirmesvergnügen der damaligen Zeit, heimgebracht und nachher am Giebel befestigt. Das heute das Heimatmuseum beherbergende Reiterhaus weist noch ein Strohdach auf. Ebenfalls bemerkenswert ist der ungewöhnlich Umstand, das der jüngere Bauteil ein steinernes Sockelgeschoss besitzt, dem eine Bohlenstube mit Umgebinde aufgesetzt wurde. Vermutlich hängt dieser Umstand mit der Lage am Hang über der Straße zusammen.
