La olla ferroviaria fue un invento de los agentes del Ferrocarril de La Robla

La olla ferroviaria es un invento de los antiguos maquinistas, fogoneros y guardafrenos del Ferrocarril Hullero que hacía el trayecto entre La Robla y Balmaseda, más conocido como el Ferrocarril de La Robla. En el punto intermedio de este recorrido se halla la estación cántabra de Mataporquera, donde reposaban las máquinas de carbón y agua y donde se encontraban los únicos trenes de viajeros y mercancías, que trasportaban carbón y apeas. Era, por lo tanto, una población muy conocida en el entorno ferroviario. Las jornadas de trabajo y los viajes eran muy largos, entre 10 y 16 horas, por lo que los trabajadores se encontraban con un problema a la hora de encajar las horas de la comida en sus quehaceres diarios. La solución fue realizar la comida sobre la marcha, aprovechando los recursos de las máquinas y su imaginación. De esta manera fue como nació la olla ferroviaria. En un primer momento utilizaron un tubo que conectaba el serpentín de la locomotora a una vasija, de donde conseguían unos excelentes guisos al vapor. Posteriormente, sustituyeron el vapor por el carbón de leña o vegetal y empezaron a cocinar en el furgón de cola del tren. Se instaló así una forma de trabajar que eliminó el problema que suponía la hora de comer y, casi de rebote, creó todo un arte culinario que ha dado mucha fama a los ferroviarios.

"Olla Ferroviaria"

La olla ferroviaria empezó siendo un rudimentario artilugio de metal que con el paso de los años evolucionó notablemente. ¿Quien se anima a preparar estas ricas y faciles patatas? Receta Patatas con carne en la olla ferroviaria Ingredientes Agua Aceite Perejil Laurel Una cebolla 4 dientes de ajo Un tomate Un pimiento verde 1’25 kg. de carne 2’5 kg. de patatas Sal Preparación En primer lugar, ponemos a calentar el aceite y añadimos la cebolla y el ajo bien picados. Esperamos a que se doren y agregamos la carne, que previamente habremos cortado en dados, y la sal. Cuando la carne esté medio hecha, echamos las patatas, el perejil, el laurel, el tomate y los pimientos, todo bien picado. Finalmente, vertemos agua hasta tapar los ingredientes y dejamos cocer durante dos horas.
