  • The comet was drifting toward southwest in Camelopardalis and approaching Both Sun and Earth. Yellowish dust tail got shorter toward east northeast. Bluish green halo got smaller and elongated more than before, about 15 arcminutes in longer diameter at the most. North is up, and east is to the left. Frames of the comet. Scale varies. • The comet was drifting fast toward northwest in Ursa Major. Whitish coma got brighter compared to that 2 weeks before. Whitish dust tail was short toward south southwest. Bluish Green ion coma got brighter and bigger around 19 arcminutes in diameter at the night. There may be very long ion tail widely toward south southwest about 20 arcminutes in length. North is up, and east is to the left. Here is a frame of the comet in the same scale, taken with the same equipment on February 15, 2020. www.flickr.com/photos/hiroc/49546285111 The comet is expected to be bright, around magnitude 5 in May, 2020, though it comes too near to Sun, and we can not see it then. • I could enjoy imaging of the comet through Saturday night. The comet was drifting fast toward north northwest in Ursa Major. Whitish coma was round and bright. Whitish dust tail was short toward southwest. Greenish ion coma was faint, and the diameter was around 8 minutes at the night. North is up, and east is to the left. The comet is expected to be bright, around magnitude 5 in May, 2020, though it comes too near to Sun, and we can not see it then. Sun Distance: 2.228 AU Earth Distance: 1.400 AU equipment: Takahashi FSQ130ED and Canon EOS R-sp4II, modified by Seo-san on Vixen AXD equatorial mount, autoguided with Fujinon 1:2.8/75mm C-Mount Lens, Pentax x2 Extender, Starlight Xpress Superstar Autoguider, GPUSB, and PHD2 Guiding with comet tracking on exposure: 7 times x 15 minutes, 5 x 4 min, and 5 x 1 minute at ISO 3,200 and f/5.0 The first exposure started at 13:30:22 February 15, 2020UTC. • I tried FSQ-130ED and Extender Q1.6x. They showed relatively strong vignetting and split halo around the bright star near a corner. Chromatic aberrations were also relatively stronger than FSQ-106ED with the extender. Red shifted inward and cyan outward. I've applied Photoshop Lens Correction Filters stronger than usual. Stars got bloated badly due to bad atmospheric turbulence. Stars were dancing hurriedly on the live view frame of the DSLR. The atmospheric turbulence made the focal length, 1,040 millimeter nonsense here in the season. There are greenish blue faint part around Owl Nebula visible and vast greenish blue faint cloud near the left edge on this noisy frame with the relatively short exposure set of data and strong processing, though I am not strictly confident on the existence of the entity yet. The faint cloud may be a real entity or mere a ghost, I made while my poor processing. It was obviously visible both on 900-second and 240-second frame. I will try imaging of the area again. equipmnent: Takahashi FSQ-130ED, Extender Q1.6x, and Canon EOS 5Dmk3-sp4, modified by Seo-san on Takahashi EM-200 Temma 2Jr, autoguided at a star nearby with Fujinon 1:2.8/75mm C-Mount Lens, Pentax x2 Extender, Starlight Xpress Lodestar X2 Autoguider, and PHD Guiding exposure: 2 times x 900 seconds, 4 x 240 sec, and 4 x 60 seconds at ISO 6,400 and f/8.0 site: 1,549m above sea level at lat. 35 48 51 North and long. 138 39 16 East in Yanagidaiwa Makioka Yamanasi 山梨県牧丘柳平 SQM-L was up to 21.37 at the night.

  • North is relatively dark here, thanks to Okuchichibu Mountains 奥秩父山塊, though south is not due to city lights in Kofu 甲府, just 15 kilometers or 10 miles away. The small area was pioneered by people came back from North East China in 1945 just after WWII. They were members of Manchuria-Mongolia pioneer group 満蒙開拓団. They lived here for more than 60 years , worked as farmers or dairy farmers, and built a small primary school, though here lives nobody now. Here were some houses, when I came here first in 2007, but they disappeared soon. Here is Kotokawa Dam 琴川ダム now, and the road is maintained through a year up to the site. I took this frame of comet 17p/Holmes just north from here in November 2007. www.flickr.com/photos/hiroc/1962154985 equipment: Ricoh Theta V on a compact tripod on the roof of my wagon exposure: 60 seconds at ISO 1,000 and f/2.0 site: 1,549m above sea level at lat. 35 48 51 North and long. 138 39 16 East in Yanagidaiwa Makioka Yamanasi 山梨県牧丘柳平 SQM-L was up to 21.16 at the night.
