  • I'm not a frequent user of textures, but somehow I thought it would work will with this lonely willow. It is a nice mix between reality and a bit of fantasy, why not :-). Please give it a bit time when looking at it and maybe zoom in once. Have a nice day!

  • [A9] Amstelveen 13/07/2020 10h19 This stretch of the highway A9 will look different in a few years time. Rijkswaterstaat is widening the A9 between the junctions Badhoevedorp and Holendrecht to four lanes per driving direction and an interchange. The extra lanes will improve the traffic flow and thus the accessibility of the northern Randstad. The quality of life in the area is also increased. At Amstelveen, we will be building the A9 in a depth of 1.3 kilometers, with three roofs: one at the Oude Dorp, one at the Stadshart and one at the Bovenlandpad. We are building a total of fourteen kilometers of noise barriers at various locations along the road. The work will start in mid 2020 and will be completed in 2026. The A9 Badhoevedorp - Holendrecht project is the fifth and final stretch of the Schiphol-Amsterdam-Almere road expansion. The A9 between Ouderkerk and Aalsmeer was opened in 1969. In 1976, 56,500 cars used the road every day. In 1986 there were 80,000 a day, in 2014 130,000. It is expected that more than 160,000 vehicles will drive on the A9 every day until 2030. It is the task of Rijkswaterstaat to ensure that all those cars can drive smoothly and safely. [ www.amstelveenz.nl ] Highway A9 Netherlands The A9 and N9 is a 96 kilometers long highway in the Netherlands which connects roughly Amsterdam and Den Helder in the North. The A9 consists of two separate parts which are connected to each other via the A2. The first part is the so-called Gaasperdammerweg between junction Diemen with the A1 towards the A2 junction Holendrecht. Then the A9 shared the A2 for 2 miles kilometers South. A9 then bends to the northwest towards Alkmaar via Amstelveen Badhoevedorp junction (A4), Raasdorp (A5) to junction Rottepolderplein (A200). Then the A9 passes with a movable bridge the side channel C followed by junction Velsen (A22), the Wijkertunnel (tunnel) under the Noordzeekanaal and junction Beverwijk (A22). Then, 15 kilometers to the North, the highway flows over into the Ring Alkmaar (N424). North of Alkmaar the highway 9 becomes N9 with only 1 lane per direction towards De Kooy near Den Helder. In 1996, the Wijkertunnel was opened and integrated into the A9. The original route of the A9 ran through the Velsertunnel where there is also a connection with the A208. This part still exists but this portion of motorway has been re-numbered to A22. With regard to the Gaasperdammerweg, it is noted in the original plans that this road would not become a motorway. The plan was to build a local link-road for the occupants of the Bijlmermeer. The section between A2/A9 and A1/A6 was never built, although this would have formed a natural connection between A9 and A6. Because of this, the Gaasperdammerweg has developed into an overflowing connection between A2 and A1. Discussions on extending the A9 in a straight line to the A6 are still going on. Because this part of the route would pass by the Naardermeer, environmentalists oppose this plan. At the moment (2017) there are major works going on to by-pass the village Badhoevedorp in between junction Badhoevedorp and Raasdorp. This work will be finished by 2018 and Badhoevedorp will no longer be devided into two due to the A9. The part of the A9 between Raasdorp and Diemen intersection is tangential to Amsterdam and can be seen as southern ring road, outside the actual A10. Along with the Westrandweg (part of the A5) A9 is an incomplete second ring around Amsterdam. FACTS & FIGURES Length: 96 kilometers Number of exits (excluding N242 and N9): 12 Number of interchanges and junctions: 7 Width: varies from 2 x 4 to 2 x 1 Speed limits: 70 (Ring Alkmaar), 80 (N9), 100, 120, 130 (including dynamic speed limits depending if the emergency lane is used at extra rush hour lane) [ Source & more Information: Wikipedia - Rijksweg 9 ]
