  • The Angoon folks that run the weir at Kook lake say that the best place to view bears is in locations like this where the stream runs underground and concentrates spawners in narrow channels. These photos were taken during a reconnaissance survey of the Basket Bay area on Chichagof Island. We worked with folks from Hoonah, Angoon and Juneau to scout, design and flag a new recreation trail intended to provide a wild brown bear viewing experience.
