  • MRL's ribbon rail train slowly makes its way west into Paradise MT from the 10th Sub with a nice SD40/SD45 combo pulling the empty train. The crew will have to pull all the way to Plains to run around the train in order to head east to Missoula over the 4th Sub. Nikon F, TMAX 400.

  • A large truck had been coupled to the rear of the rail train to actually lift and guide rail off of the cars. This truck was uncoupled and taken off the rear of the train across route 200 in Paradise, causing a slight delay for several motorists but an interesting scene for railfans.

  • The now empty rail train is at Paradise, where the 10th sub joins the 4th sub. What can basically be described as a "service meltdown" has resulted in many trains being tied down in sidings along the MRL. This was the case at Paradise, where a freight train originating on the 1st was still rotting in the siding, meaning the two convening work trains had no place to run around themselves at Paradise. Both trains had to be run west to the Plains to be positioned for their eastbound moves. Here the rail train off the 10th holds back while another work train comes off the 4th sub.
