  • It’s often more about the simple things than anything really. The spectacular trips, the amazing life experiences, and the unbelievable sights are assuredly noteworthy and so very important, but it’s the Pepsi can on the table, the note from a friend, the warmth of a hug and the apple blossom in the bright light that often get me. Sometimes we just have to slow down and, to be as cliché as possible; “smell the roses.” I love life and I love the people in it. And despite the sometimes crazy lives that we lead, from time to time I hope to be able to enjoy the apple blossoms with those I care so deeply about. C&C Welcome! Enjoy,

  • And it was all yellow - Even the fields of "weeds" can be seen in a wonderful light. Selective focus and a low profile gave me this perspective - I like it! C&C Welcome! Enjoy,

  • Here is an old shot of a Monarch Butterfly that I found amongst my RAW files. It’s not the prettiest shot, a little washed out, but I like it nonetheless. I remember vaguely chasing this fellow for about 20 minutes until he found a suitable flower. Even then, he stood still for no more than 5 seconds. If you watch a butterfly, just sit and watch, their beauty is sometimes overshadowed by their stupidity - Perhaps I am the ignorant one… C&C Welcome! Enjoy,

  • I happened upon this photograph while looking through one of my assorted JPEG folders. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it – I remember this photograph fondly. This picture was taken the very day I brought my camera home from the store. I remember being excited, but equally terrified as I powered it up and cradled it outside of my house. I remember taking each step as if I was walking on egg shells, trying not to crack a one. I remember turning the knobs and pressing the buttons – not knowing what a single one did. Despite this fact, I felt confident. I remember walking up to this tulip and I remember pointing the camera at the flower and hitting the shutter. *click* I was ecstatic – I snapped one of my first shots! I remember hitting the playback button and I remember, distinctly, that my smile immediately fell flat. I remember looking at this photo and thinking, “This is awful.” I remember thinking how out of focus it was, how dark it was, how… not perfect it was. I was mortified – I remember thinking how I just wasted my parent’s money on a gift that was no good. I remember thinking that there was no way I could ever take a beautiful picture with this camera and I remember nearly giving up on something I now relish. I remember simply thinking, “it wasn’t perfect.” I look back on this moment now and I think how wrong I was. Taking pictures, and anything else in life for that matter, has nothing to do with being perfect. Rather, it is simply about what makes you happy. I look back on this day warmheartedly: I see it as the day I took a step toward happiness. I hope to have many more days like this, days to grow, in my life. C&C Welcome! Enjoy,

  • Captured back in 2007 - this is one of my favorite photographs of all time. Shot with a KODAK EASYSHARE C743 it was perhaps one of the first times I shot for the sake of capturing the world around me. I was in high school at the time and experimenting with this little digital camera that my parents got me. I remember that I would spend hours outside in search of the perfect flowers to shoot. While I never found the perfect flowers, I sometimes found the right flowers. This particular shot is of a Johnny Jump Up. It is a very common wildflower that, more often than not, ends up growing in the yard as opposed to the flower gardens we have. This one however decided to bring its beauty to my virgin plot. At the time I was just starting this garden, now overrun by perennials, and I was ecstatic to see it show up. Indeed, as I’ve heard it before, the quote that a garden is “The Poor Man’s Apothecary” rings so very true. Even virtually, this flower brings me joy in the dead of winter – a medicine that costs so very little and grants so very much. C&C Welcome! Enjoy,

  • Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas Flickr! I cherish this time of year – not simply because I get a month break from school, or the fact that I rarely have to set an alarm in the morning, or even the benefit of not having to do my own laundry (thanks ma). No, I cherish this time of year because I am able to spend it with those I care about. It seems that the holiday season has a way of bringing to the surface feelings that we often harbor too deep within ourselves. Best of all, Christmas heralds a spirit of love; the love of God and a love amongst man which should not only trump bitterness today, but all the days of our lives. Amazing isn’t the right word, but it’s the first that comes to mind. Aside from my sappy anecdote – I also have an image to share with you this holiday season! It’s been done thousands of time before and I surely won’t be the last, but here’s a little Christmas Bokeh. A splash of color in these white (and for some, not so white) days is sometimes just what you need. I hope all is well and, of course, Merry Christmas! C&C Welcome! Enjoy,

  • This is a picture of the snowman that hangs on our front door. Thought I’d give this shot a try free hand in the dim light. Didn’t turn out quite how I wanted it to, but I thought I would share it nonetheless. The 3 free months of Flickr PRO isn’t going to use itself! C&C Welcome! Enjoy,

  • As I was looking through my old RAW folders I found this image from last summer. I thought it was an interesting capture at best. This Goldfinch knew better to take flight when the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak came for a snack. Although the sharpness and colors are just not there, I still like it. C&C Welcome! Enjoy
