  • CN L50481-03 runs around its train on the Nestle siding at Burlington. After reversing onto the siding at Nestle, they'll grab their train and pull down the lead to switch the chocolate plant just south of town. Not surprisingly, this entire town smells wonderful!

  • Small independent gas station owned by Jack Hansen set back on a corner lot at Chestnut and Mill Streets in Burlington WI. Station was placed diagonally on the lot to allow easy access to both streets. Cottage made of brick with front facade painted white. Tile roof, raised parapet end walls topped with arched chimney hoods, stone coping and classical-style urns betrays its Colonial influences. At one time sported a Western Union clock in the middle of the sign where the circle with the words "Since 1903" inside is now. Station was a member of the Dixie Distributors network, a statewide group of independent gas stations who used theri combined purchasing power to compete against industry giants. Station aisle and gas pumps were removed in the early 1990's when new strict underground storage tank regulations went into effect. When this picture was taken, it was serving as a storage building. Since then, this building has been repurposed and today it hosts the "Just Paws Pet Spa."
